The events of the last couple of weeks have made them go public with their relationship. They are happy. On the other side of the world, in the Savage Land, Zaladane has returned to life. After faking her own death using a death spell, her first act was to travel to the capital of the Empire of the Sun. There she summoned Garokk the Petrified Man. She subsequently killed him, using her previously unrevealed mutant power to absorb the life force and abilities of those she touches. Proclaiming herself the Goddess of the Empire of the Sun she embarks on a conquest of the Savage Land. Attacking the Mud People, currently under the leadership of the Savage Land Mutates, she wins her first victory. In the process she kills and acquires the abilities of several of the Mutates. Brainchild gathers the survivors and flees. Zaladane’s conquest brings her to the land of the Fall People. She sweeps through their primitive defences only finding resistance from an adolescent boy with armoured skin. The young man’s mother attacks Zaladane as well. The would be Goddess uses her newfound abilities to take control of the woman’s mind and uncovers the origin of the armoured youth. Seeing an opportunity, Zaladane teleports the woman away. While Kitty and Piotr are taking a stroll on the Institute grounds they are surprised when a woman materialises before them. Kitty is even more surprised when Piotr recognises her as a woman called Nereel. The woman Zaladane teleported away from the Savage Land. They are both shocked when the woman tells Piotr he must help her to save their son...
